Two magical moments from David Ball gave Fleetwood Town a 2-0 victory at Home Park.
The Cod Army faithful, delayed by a motorway blowout, missed both strikes, the first a right footer from 18 yard after ten minutes, the second coming two minutes later as Town took control.
Fleetwood could easily have been further ahead by the break, Steven Shumacher with a 30 yard drive, held by Jake Cole, Ball with a chance for his hat-trick at the back post.
Reuben Reid had the best chance for the home side, sent in by Marvin Morgan, his shot was chested away by Scott Davies.
The home side improved after the break, limiting Town’s chances but creating few of their own.
Fleetwood chose to sit on their advantage, soaking up pressure from the Pilgrims following a triple substitution by John Sheridan.
