FLEETWOOD Town’s playoff push was brought to a crashing halt by North West rivals Rochdale.

Ian Henderson opened the scoring after just eight minutes, the Dale man tapped home following a fine run by former Highbury striker George Donnelly in just the eighth minute.

Fleetwood struggled to impose themselves on the first half - their best chance coming courtesy of Junior Brown, his 30 yard effort tipped over by Josh Lillis.

Town looked little better after the break and fell further behind when sloppy defending let in Donnelly, Davies getting a body in the way - not enough to stop the ball crossing the line.

When Michael Rose scythed through the legs of Jamille Matt, Town were handed a way back from the penalty spot.

They didn’t take it, Andy Mangan’s soft effort saved by Lillis.

Matters took a turn for the worse when Nathan Pond was sent off for his involvement in a touchline altercation - Jason Kennedy’s late thunderbolt rubbing salt into open wounds.
