Defender Ryan Creswell’s departure is the only deadline day drama for Fleetwood Town.
The former Southend United star, a big money signing in the summer of 2013, has joined League Two Northampton Town for an undisclosed fee, bringing to an end frustrating Highbury stay.
Cresswell was brought in to partner Mark Roberts at the heart of the Fleetwood defence, Town chairman Andy Pilley carrying out a relentless pursuit of the centre half.
But he failed to fit in at Fleetwood, carrying the can for defeat at Accrington Stanley, dropped by Graham Alexander - who put his trust in Roberts and club stalwart Nathan Pond.
the Rotherham-born 26-year-old has made just one appearance for Fleetwood this season, coming off the bench to join a rearguard action in the victory over Scunthorpe United.
He wasn’t named among the substitutes in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient.
