He’s due to make his 200th appearance for Fleetwood at Bury on Saturday and forward David Ball is targeting another milestone; a 50 goal haul.

It is no coincidence that Town’s transformation from relegation battlers to promotion chasers has seen Ball (pictured) with his best return in the third tier of English football and highest goal tally since he netted 13 times in Fleetwood’s 2013-14 League Two promotion season.

Ball has gone from strength to strength since Uwe Rosler took over, playing as an out-and-out striker rather than having to fill a midfield role.

With Wes Burns and Devante Cole doubts for tomorrow’s trip to Gigg Lane, Ball is expected to play his 200th game.

Now Ball is eager to hit that 50-goal mark and score some more important goals in the remaining eight games to aid Town’s promotion chase after fighting through illness to play the full 90 in the 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon.

They travel to Bury, sitting third in the League One table on the back of just one defeat in 21.

He said: “That is something that I’ve looked in to, that would be great for me to hit that target for Fleetwood.

“That is something that I want to get to on a personal basis and hopefully those goals will be important for the remainder of the season.

“If I can get to that sort of figure over the course I’ve played here in different positions I’ve played I think it will be a good return.”
