Tamed Shrews wild about revenge, warns Fleetwood boss

Town thumped Shrewsbury 3-0 just 10 days ago in the league at Highbury thanks to a David Ball double and a Conor McLaughlin effort.

That result sent the Shrews to the bottom of League One and left Rosler’s opposite number Paul Hurst seething – he slammed his players after the match for a performance he labelled “not acceptable”.

But Hurst, who replaced former Fleetwood boss Micky Mellon at Greenhous Meadow less than six weeks ago, has seen his side keep four clean sheets in their last six games, including last Saturday’s home stalemate with Port Vale.

And with the Shrews’ defeat at Fleetwood so fresh in the memory, Rosler fears they will be anxious to make amends and to avoid further hairdryer treatment from their new manager.

Rosler said of tomorrow’s opponents : “I think they will be out for revenge and we (need to) prepare ourselves for a very tough game.

“It is very dangerous for us. We have players who have not been in this business for many years and to handle these situations is sometimes new for them.

“We have to help them in terms of how we prepare them and how we select the team.

“I think it is very important that we start the game like we started at Wimbledon last Saturday and at Port Vale.

“The longer the game goes on, hopefully our qualities will shine through and we will have the upper hand over them but it will be tough.”

Rosler’s men have won only twice away from home this season but the head coach is convinced they will not be lacking self-belief tomorrow after the 2-2 draw at Wimbledon and an undeserved 2-1 defeat at Vale Park.

Rosler added: “In our last two away games I felt we gave very strong performances.

“I think we are coming out of those two away games with confidence.

“To turn that momentum into a point at Wimbledon (when McLaughlin equalised) in the last minute I think was mentally a big boost for our team.”
