Fleetwood boss Uwe Rosler is anticipating more goals from midfield in the final eight games of the season.
Kyle Dempsey scored his first Town goal in the 4-2 defeat by Bolton earlier this month and Cameron Brannagan went close to his first in last week’s win at Walsall.
It is not yet known whether George Glendon, who was in court in Grimsby on Tuesday on a rape charge, will remain in contention to play, though both he and Markus Schwabl are yet to open their accounts.
And with Jimmy Ryan (foot) and Martyn Woolford (knee) still in the treatment room, Bobby Grant has provided themain goal threat from midfield with seven so far.
And ahead of another crunch clash at Bury this Saturday, Rosler wants more goals from the middle.
He said: “Kyle scored, Cameron Brannagan nearly scored and there is more to come from the midfield area, more goals. I’m sure that will happen in the last games of the season.”
This Saturday’s opponents Bury are one of only three teams to have kept Fleetwood goalless in League One fixtures at Highbury this season but Town have scored in every away league game and have been beaten only once in 21 league matches.
Wimbledon kept Town at bay last weekend but it could have been different had striker Ash Hunter found the net in the 11th minute, when the striker was put through by David Ball but James Shea batted away his effort.
Ex-forward Rosler refused to criticise the 21-year-old. Hunter and Ball are the head coach’s only fully fit strikers, with injuries to Devante Cole and Wes Burns making them doubtful for Saturday.
And Rosler backed Hunter to end his barren spell – the 10-goal striker last found the net in January’s 3-1 win over Bristol Rovers.
Rosler said: “I think Ash was more or less one-on-one with the keeper. No criticism whatsoever – you cannot score every time.
“In the past we know that Ash can score from that (situation) and he will score again.
“But at the moment he is chasing his goal. You can see it from his body language at times.
“But it is not about chasing a goal, it is about us as a team reaching our targets and that will be with Ash scoring goals again soon.”
