Town picked up seven points from a possible nine in the space of eight days after following up a 0-0 draw with Rochdale with back-to-back wins over Bradford on Tuesday night and the Dons today to stretch their unbeaten run to 16 in the league.

Cian Bolger nodded in George Glendon’s corner from the right in the 61st minute and Rosler says Town looked terrific on set-pieces as they trialed a new twist on the 3-5-2 formation with Liverpool loanee Cameron Brannagan starting the game in a new number 10 role at stadium:mk.

The result sees Fleetwood retain their grip on fourth spot in the table but they are now level on points with third-placed Bolton who drew 2-2 with Bradford.

Speaking after the game Rosler said: “I think at the moment the whole camp is very drained.

“It was not as emotional as it was on Tuesday (against Bradford).

“It was a very tough week for us against three top teams.

“I said before the game MK Dons is with the squad they have and the quality of players and experience they are in a false position.

“It was a difficult game for us I think over the weekend the happiness and the satisfaction will hit in and on Monday we go again.

“Alex Cairns had one save to make in 95 minutes.

“We was as a team a little bit disappointed about the first 20 minutes.

“We tried out a new shape and the players we need more time on the training ground, unfortunately we don’t have that in a week like that.

“We tried it out, we needed 20 minutes to come into the game, then we got better.

“Second half was an even game we looked terrific on set-pieces, three times cleared on the line before we scored, they had one or two more opportunities but in general I think we even ourselves out in chances and we won the game that is what you need in that league to stay in games we have special qualities on set-pieces and we have to use them.”
