A number of players are out of contract in the summer but Pressley has told them to brush the uncertainty over their futures aside and give their all to make sure Town beat the drop by getting the point they need to survive against Crewe on Sunday.

The Town boss said: “I think we should all be playing for our pride and for this football club. It has not been easy for some of them because there has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding their situation.

“It is not like players at the very top level, who are earning vast amounts of money. These players are not, so their futures can become very uncertain. It is not a nice predicament

“I’ve had to say to the players over the last couple of months that they need to put that aside and focus on this football club and keeping this club in the division.

“That is what really matters. Ultimately a player doesn’t want relegation on his CV.

“The thought of next season and potentially playing at Charlton and Bolton should be enough to motivate the players. The reality is that if we can’t be up for Sunday’s game, with the importance of it, then there is a problem.”
