Fleetwood right-back Conor McLaughlin has been named in the EFL Football Manager League One team of the season with boss Uwe Rosler crowned manager of the season.
The teams were compiled as part of the EFL Awards of 2017, and are based on votes submitted by a regional media representative of each of the 72 clubs who nominated their top 11 players and a manager with Rosler and McLaughlin recognised.
The overall EFL team of the season will be judged by a panel on March 20 and revealed at the EFL Awards on Sunday, April 9 with Rosler and McLaughlin now in the running to make the overall team.
Rosler is up against fellow German and Championship manager of the season Huddersfield’s David Wagner and League Two manager Doncaster’s Darren Ferguson with McLaughlin competing with Huddersfield’s Tommy Smith and Blackpool’s Kelvin Mellor for the right back spot.
Rosler got the nod after guiding a team that just beat the drop to League Two last term to their best ever League One points tally as they enter the final eight games of the season third in the table.
Northern Ireland international McLaughlin has just jetted off on international duty and the 25-year-old has been one of the stand out players for third-placed Town so far this term mainly featuring in a right wing-back role.
The defender slots in alongside Bolton centre-halves David Wheater and Mark Beevers with Bradford’s James Meredith at left-back in the team of the season.
Walsall’s Erhun Oztumer, Scunthorpe hot-shot Josh Morris and Sheffield United’s John Fleck are the chosen midfield three.
Sheffield United’s 26-goal forward Billy Sharp joins Millwall’s Lee Gregory and Bury’s James Vaughan in a front three of a 4-3-3 formation with Oldham shot-stopper Connor Ripley named as keeper.
