Although Jonson Clarke-Harris won Friday’s game for Posh with a late free-kick, Town had kept the 28-goal forward and fellow dangerman Sammie Szmodics quiet for the majority of the Highbury contest.
That was a tribute to Fleetwood’s 23-year-old captain Callum Connolly and his fellow centre-backs, academy graduates James Hill (19) and Harrison Holgate (20).

“We had three lads who really wanted to defend, put their bodies on the line and ultimately can play out from the back when the opportunity comes along.
“The lads in front of them gave them protection, the wing-backs as well, but when they had to defend and were challenged around the box in one v one situations, they did everything they needed to.
“So I’m pleased for them because they are learning and developing in every game and in every training session they are involved in.”
