Fleetwood boss Graham Alexander believes Nathan Pond can make the step up to life in League One.
The centre half ended his Highbury testimonial season with victory at Wembley and will celebrate with fans at the club’s Promotion on the Pitch party this afternoon.
Pond’s story is almost unrivalled in football.
He joined the club from Lancaster City when they were in the North West Counties League.
Monday was Pond’s sixth promotion with the Highbury club and Alexander had nothing but praise for the Fleetwood hero.
He said:”If you could cram one club into one man Pondy is that man.
“He epitomises everything about Fleetwood.
“He’s been questioned all his career, can he go to the next level.
“He’s always found what was needed.
“He’s got the intelligence to find out what you need to do to compete.
“He’s done it all.
“And he can definitely go on next season with us.”
“He’s a fantastic professional and he epitomises everything about this club.”
Fleetwood’s players will attend a civic reception at Highbury today before joining fans to celebrate their promotion to League One.
