Graham Alexander added two new faces to his squad yesterday as stepped-up plans for the new season.
Former Blackpool striker Bobby Grant was joined by Fulham midfielder Lyle Della-Verde after the pair impressed on trial last week.
Grant spent last season on loan at Shrewsbury Town and impressed as Salop gained promotion to the third tier, winning the league’s Player of the Month for March.
The Scouser began his career with Accrington Stanley in 2006 and has also represented Scunthorpe United, Rochdale, Blackpool and most recently Shrewsbury.
And boss Alexander was delighted with the deal.
“We know Bobby well, we had him on loan two seasons ago and we have played against him as well,” he said.
“We know of Bobby’s qualities and we are really pleased to get him on board. We want to add goals to the team and Bobby will certainly provide that.
“He was unfortunate when we brought him in on loan. He hadn’t fully recovered from the previous injury he had and broke down really quickly.
“He played a lot of games last season and we believe he has overcome the problem he had before.
“He has had a thorough medical and trained with the team this pre-season prior to the Germany trip and impressed.”
Della-Verde, who left Fulham at the end of last season, traveled to Germany along with Graham Alexander’s squad for last week’s training camp and did enough to earn himself a two-year deal at Highbury.
The English 20-year-old failed to make an appearance during his time at Fulham but played five games on loan at Bristol Rovers last season.
Alexander added: “Both of our signings today have great personalities. They want to prove on the pitch how good they both are and they want to show what they can do on the ball.”
