Fleetwood boss Steven Pressley is confident of extending David Henen’s loan at Highbury with the player himself suggesting wheels may already have been put in motion.
The Everton striker’s current month-long deal was due to run out after Saturday’s home game against Walsall.
However The Gazette understands a deal may already have been done to keep Henen at Highbury until January
The striker took to social media after Tuesday night’s win over Morecambe to announce a month-long extension of his time with Town.
However, neither club has yet confirmed the move, which would make Henen available for the crucial Christmas period.
Pressley made no secret of his admiration for the forward after Tuesday’s Johnstone Paints Trophy victory
“He’s done really well for us,” said the Fleetwood boss.
“At times on Tuesday his pace on the transition was blistering, it’s something we’ve not had before.
“He’s a player we certainly must try to keep.”
Everton have been keeping close tabs on Belgian teenager Henen since his arrival at Highbury and are, according to Pressley, impressed with the environment at Fleetwood.
“They’ve been at a number of our games, they’ve enjoyed the way we’ve played,” said the Fleetwood boss.
“I think it’s a similar style to the way they play at Everton.
“In terms of mirroring what they want for their players I think that’s a good thing.
“David himself has really enjoyed his time here.”
