League One side Bradford City have activated a clause in the keeper’s contract which would allow him to leave Bloomfield Road after relegation to League Two last summer.

Doyle held talks with the League One side over the weekend.

He is expected to complete a deal to Valley Parade in the next 48 hours, should he pass a medical at the club.

And after weeks of positivity around new boss Gary Bowyer’s start to life at Blackpool, he could be set to lose his number one stopper.

Doyle, 31, was one of the shining lights of Blackpool’s shocking League One campaign last season with 35 appearances, prompting interest from a number of clubs this summer.

While Blackpool remain quiet on the potential of a deal this morning, Bradford boss Stuart McCall has confirmed their interest.

Steve Banks, now keeper coach with the Bantams, worked alongside Doyle at Bloomfield Road last season and McCall admits that he’s played a big part in their interest.

“Banksy knows him and watched the games against them,” revealed the Bradford manager.

“He’s a big lad who comes for crosses, he’s a presence which you need in this division because of the number of crosses that are put in.

“He’s one of the many irons in the fire for us.”

A departure for Doyle would leave Bowyer with just one senior keeper in Kyle Letheren, although youngster Mile Boney is also now a professional at the club.
