Weight finally off Dicko’s shoulders

Nouah Dicko

NOUHA Dicko’s first goal in English football will help him get over a miss which has bugged him for the last fortnight.

That’s according to Ian Holloway, who is delighted the on-loan Wigan man got his Pool account up and running at Doncaster.

Dicko’s second-half strike sealed the Seasiders’ 3-1 win and crowned his second league start for the club.

In his first game at Cardiff, the 19-year-old missed a glorious opportunity, dragging a shot badly wide when through on goal.

Holloway is convinced that will now be a distant memory.

He said: “It was an important goal for Nouha because he missed a good chance in our win at Cardiff.

“He is probably a lot happier now because he has had a couple of other chances since he signed for us. But he stuck that one away on Tuesday and by my reckoning he’s taken one chance out of four – that is the conversion rate of a good striker in my book.

“So I am very pleased for him and that was a crucial goal because we were under the cosh at 2-1. We needed a third goal to kill the game and Nouha got us that.

“He also does things which the supporters might not notice – the way he covers back and defends. He is so pacy that he gets back really quickly and that is vital for us.”
