Thomas Ince is expected to complete a loan move to Crystal Palace today – but there could yet be a twist.
The winger, who turned 22 yesterday, was in London last night for further talks after meeting Palace boss Tony Pulis on Monday evening.
If a deal is done with Palace, he’ll join on loan for the rest of the season, with Blackpool receiving a fee believed to be around £1m.
Although it’s understood things are far from agreed, and Stoke are said to be waiting in the wings.
Mark Hughes’ side have tabled an offer to buy the player outright, a deal which would no doubt be more appealing to Blackpool.
It’s likely Ince will leave the club today, but if he doesn’t beat tonight’s eleven o’clock deadline Pool boss Barry Ferguson says he has no problem taking the winger back.
Stand-in boss Ferguson said: “He will come back in if nothing goes through today.
“I’ve concentrated on the boys that are here.
“I know we gave him permission to go and speak to clubs and I totally understand Tom’s mindset.
“In terms of what will happen, I don’t know.
“If nothing happens I’ll welcome him back, no problem.
“I have no problem at all with Tom, you can ask him that yourself.
“I spoke to him last Thursday and it was fine. I understand he might want to try something different.”
Ince hasn’t played since Pool’s 2-0 defeat against Barnsley, his dad Paul’s final game in charge.
