BLACKPOOL’S latest signing Angel Martinez is set to be thrown in at the deep end in tonight’s Bloomfield Road friendly against Hibernian.
The 25-year-old Spanish midfielder is due to meet his new team-mates for the first time today before featuring in the 7.45pm match against the Edinburgh Scottish Premier League club.
Martinez, who has signed a two-year deal with the option of a third, is a product of the youth set-up at Espanyol, where he made 50 senior appearances before spending last season with Spanish second-tier side Girona.
He becomes the seventh summer signing and the fourth in five days by Pool, who continue to be linked with Dundee United’s Scotland striker David Goodwillie.
Interest in the 22-year-old is set to step up now a rape case against him has been dropped, and the Tannadice club rejected a £1m-plus offer from Rangers yesterday.
