BLACKPOOL were given a huge boost this week, with the return of Keith Southern, writes WILLIAM WATT. Southern back on the scene
The popular midfielder had an operation earlier this month to remove a tumour, and had not been expected back until the New Year.
However, Ian Holloway has revealed that the fans’ favourite dropped by to see his team-mates on Thursday morning.
He said: “Keith was back at the training ground on Thursday, which is fantastic.
“I think he’s frustrated, as he feels like there’s nothing wrong with him. I think he’s fed up of Hoovering.”
Southern hasn’t featured since the 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough last month.
And while he may not be the noisiest of lads, Holloway says he’s already being missed.
He said: “It’s great to see him, he looks in good spirits.
“He’s so quiet around the place, but I miss him out on the training ground.
“He sets the tone in training, he’s one of them that sets the pace.
“It’s been really nice to have him back.”
It is hoped Southern, in his 10th season at Bloomfield Road, can return to action in the new year.
