Keith Southern could be back at the Seasiders, training ground in a fortnight.
The midfielder is recovering well after a successful operation to remove a tumour.
And although it will be a while before he can play a game, boss Ian Holloway says the 30-year-old will soon be a regular again at Bloomfield Road.
The manager said: “Keith is probably going to be out for at least six weeks in terms of playing games, but he will be coming back (to the training ground) in about two weeks.
“That will be great for everyone because we all miss him.
“He is a soldier, who has never let me down – he always gives everything he’s got in matches.
“Keith is one of those lads everyone likes, and he is exactly the type of character you want in your squad.
“We were all upset and shaken about what has happened to him, but from everything we know he is making great progress and it shouldn’t be long before we see him again.”
