The Benin international has agreed an initial one-year deal at Bloomfield Road, with the option of a further year.

D’Almeida departs Oakwell having featured three times for Championship side Barnsley in the opening month of last season.

But an anterior cruciate ligament tear ruled the 21-year-old out of action for the remainder of the 2016/17 campaign.

And D’Almeida says he is fully recovered from that injury and ready to go.

“I am very happy to sign for Blackpool and I will give everything for this team. Last season I was injured, but I’ve come back strong and I’m ready to play. The gaffer has given me this chance and has the confidence in me, so I’m really happy to join.”

Before joining Barnsley D’Almeida had spent time with Paris Saint Germain’s B team, having initially progressed through the Bordeaux academy system to play two first-team fixtures, including a UEFA Europa League group stage game against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

He will not feature for the Seasiders at Doncaster tomorrow but Blackpool boss Gary Bowyer says he has the qualities to boost his midfield.

He said: “Sessi fits the profile of our recruitment and brings some qualities we’ve been looking for in midfield. He’s strong, athletic, willing to put his foot in and has a fantastic, all-round work rate. He’s determined to make an impact and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
