Jose Riga was delighted with his side’s point at Middlesbrough last night and thought they maybe deserved all three.
Pool had a number of decent chances in the second half after Ishmael Miller’s goal cancelled out Daniel Ayala’s strike.
But Riga wasn’t complaining about the point afterwards.
He said: “It was a big performance. We started the game behind but we reacted so well and I was really happy.
“Collectively, the way the side is willing to defend and attack as a team gives me great satisfaction.
“What gave me the most satisfaction is how we responded to a very difficult defeat against Norwich on Saturday.
“In that game, we deserved more and maybe last night I worried about my players psychologically.
“The squad showed brilliant commitment but also showed a lot of skill.
“Even in the second half we had chances to win the game, but that’s the story of football.”
The point may have done little to improve Pool’s league position, it appeared to do wonders for the confidence of the players and the small group of travelling fans.
Riga added: “We are building something new here and the foundation has to be the team spirit. I’m really seeing that at the moment.”
