IAN Evatt is being chased by Portsmouth, though it is unlikely Pool will accept any offer.
Pompey boss Steve Cotterill was repeatedly asked about his rumoured interest in the Seasiders centre-half at a press conference yesterday but batted away the questions.
However, sources close to the club have confirmed that Portsmouth, aiming for promotion back to the Premier League this season, do want to sign the 29-year-old.
They are reportedly prepared to pay as much as £1m, though Pool are sure to refuse any bid.
Ian Holloway already faces having his squad ripped apart and does not want to lose any more players. Evatt is under contract for a further 12 months.
