Blackpool could be without star man Tom Ince for “two or three weeks”, according to manager Paul Ince.
The winger pulled a groin muscle taking a corner in the second half of Monday’s Capital One Cup defeat at Preston.
Despite being in considerable discomfort, the 21-year-old played through the pain barrier for the final 20 minutes.
But Ince didn’t look good after the game and is waiting on the results of a scan to determine the extent of the damage.
Pool boss Paul Ince said: “We have a problem with Thomas. “He could be out for a couple of weeks if it’s as bad as we suspect. We’ll monitor it over the next couple of days and see how he is.”
If the injury is as bad as first feared, it would be a major blow for a club already massively short of options.
Pool’s squad is woefully lacking in numbers and Ince’s injury would leave them without either of their star men – Matt Phillips has a broken arm.
Ince has been constantly linked with a move away from Bloomfield Road but manager Paul Ince, the player’s father, has reiterated how much he wants to keep him.
“It would be nice to keep him for the rest of the season.”
