BILLY Paynter won’t be the man to solve Ian Holloway’s striker problem.
Paynter’s trial at Bloomfield Road is already over after Pool decided to send the 28-year-old back to Leeds.
The frontman, available for a nominal fee as Neil Warnock attempts to trim the wage bill at Elland Road, had hoped to complete a move.
Holloway, keen to bring in a big, physical centre forward, wanted to see whether Paynter would fit the bill.
But the Gazette understands that the striker’s brief stay didn’t work out and he is now likely to drop into the lower divisions.
