Elliot Parish will make his Blackpool debut this evening, with a ringing endorsement from his team mates.
The keeper has had to watch on patiently as number one Joe Lewis turned in superb performances between the sticks.
But with Lewis being on loan from tonight’s opponents Cardiff City, Parish will make be thrown into the televised clash with youth team keeper Daniel Milton expected to be named on the bench.
And Riga says the reaction of Pool’s team mates gives him total confidence in his number two.
“I have confidence in Elliot, there’s no doubts from me,” he said.
“I spoke to my staff yesterday and the biggest compliment I can give Elliot is not one player from the team has asked if we are signing a keeper to replace Joe for this game.
“They haven’t because they trust Elliot and have seen him each day in training.
“Elliot and Joe (Lewis) have been working together all season and working hard with our goalkeeping coach.
“Joe has grown to the training and the mentality of player, I am sure Elliot can do the same.”
Pool are sweating on the availability of Jose Miguel Cubero and Jeffrey Rentmeister who both picked up fresh knocks against Middlesbrough at the Riverside on Tuesday night.
Both will undergo late fitness tests, with Pool hopeful at least one of them will be available, although midfielder Andrea Orlandi is expected to miss out.
Riga explained: “Jose Cubero is one we will wait until right up to kick-off.
“Jeffrey is better although he’s not 100 per cent so we will see how he is this afternoon, although I’m hopeful he’ll play in this game.
“As for Andrea Orlandi we have major doubts over as he’s not fully fit at the moment, hopefully the international break will sort him out.”
