Pool new boy Marvin Zeegelaar hopes the experience of playing alongside Luis Suarez will help him in the Championship.

The 23-year-old trained for the first time with his Blackpool team mates yesterday since arriving on loan from Turkish club Elazığspor on Monday.

Dutchman Zeegelaar is the product of the famous Ajax youth system and broke into the first team alongside some big names, including
Liverpool star Suarez.

And he hopes it will all stand him in good stead.

“I played with Suarez when I was breaking into the first team,” he told The Gazette.

“I learnt so much from players like him, their quality stood out.

“The youth system at Ajax is the best, there’s no doubt.

“Everything is so organised.

“Right through the club they have old stars working at all levels of the club. People like Dennis Bergkamp and Frank de Boer are coaching the youth system, it’s just a brilliant set-up.

“It’s a really unique club.”

Zeegelaar spent last season in the Turkish top flight after a spell in Spanish football with Espanyol’s B team.

He was recommended to Paul Ince by a scout and the Pool boss wasted no time in bringing him to the Fylde coast.

“My agent rang me on Monday and said there was a chance this move could come about and I jumped at it,” explained the winger.

“I’m really looking forward to my first chance in English football.”

“I’ve watched a lot of it on the television and it’s great to finally get a chance to come here and play.

“I’d heard of Blackpool FC, although I’d never seen them play.

“But I’d obviously heard of the town and the club.

“After I left Ajax I’ve played a lot of games in Spain and played half a season in Turkey last season.

“It’s the top flight in
Turkey and we finished 13th in the league, so I’ve been playing at a good level before coming here .”
