Blackpool again have a long list of injury doubts ahead of tomorrow’s clash with Cardiff.
Jose Miguel Cubero is the latest worry after an ankle injury forced him off at half-time on only his second Pool appearance at Middlesbrough on Tuesday, when Peter Clarke again missed out due to illness.
Jeffrey Rentmeister surprised many by declaring himself fit to start at the Riverside but Andrea Orlandi again limped off with a sore foot.
Manager Jose Riga says these problems sum up Pool’s luck at present. “Jose got a kick around the ankle in the first half,” he said.
“He stayed in the dressing room for the second half and that was important for him. It’s not good news but we will see how he is.
“Andrea still has a problem with his foot, which is a worry. We aren’t getting much luck with injuries and Peter Clarke is struggling again. He will be examined on Thursday.”
It’s understood the 34-year-old centre-half, who has missed the last three matches, lost more than half a stone in weight and remains weak.
He has eased himself back into training this week and has an outside chance of featuring against Cardiff. Riga added: “The injury story is neverending. We may not have Peter for Cardiff and Jeffrey is not fully fit, so we have many problems.”
