MICHAEL Appleton is hopeful of adding to his squad ahead of Thursday’s deadline for loan signings.
Once the emergency window closes that afternoon, clubs will be unable to do any transfer business until January 1.
Injuries to key duo Matt Phillips and Gary Taylor-Fletcher mean the new boss is keen to strengthen his attacking options.
And after watching a number of targets and speaking to chairman Karl Oyston, Appleton is hoping to add a couple of new faces to his squad.
Appleton said: “I’m pretty confident we can identify the right players we’d like to bring in before Thursday’s deadline.
“Hopefully, with a bit of luck, we can get them over the line. It’s going to be a busy few days for everyone, up and down the country.
“There will be a lot of movers and shakers and hopefully we’ll be among them.”
With a players away on international duty last week, Appleton is delighted to have his full squad at Squires Gate all week to prepare for Saturday’s visit of Watford.
He added: “I’m really looking forward to a full week on the training ground now.
“Obviously last week we had one or two away but we worked as best as we could. We got a lot of good work in, especially on defending.”
Pool have come from behind to draw both Appleton’s games as manager so far.
And he’s delighted with what he’s seen so far. “Credit to the players – they showed determination and grit to come behind from a setback so late in the game on Saturday.
“We actually could have gone on and nicked it at the end as well.
“So it was mixed emotions really.
“We were happy with the point in the end and look forward to hopefully getting our first win on Saturday.”
