Blackpool are hoping to conclude a deal to sign goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.

The 27-year-old played 90 minutes in Saturday’s win at Penrith after training with the club all last week.

He’s available as a free agent after leaving Leyton Orient for personal reasons in March.

Alnwick has impressed boss Jose Riga in training and the club opened talks with the widely travelled stopper over the weekend.

Pool are without a keeper after the departure of Matt Gilks (Burnley), Mark Halstead (Shrewsbury) and Chris Kettings (Crystal Palace).

Young stopper Connor Hunt has been training with the first team this summer after impressing for the club’s youth team last season, but he is yet to sign the deal which was offered to him by Blackpool back in May.
