Blackpool will do their utmost to complete signings ahead of the final transfer deadline of the season at 5pm today.
Barry Ferguson has spent the week trying to bring a defender to the club to fill the gap left by injury to Kirk Broadfoot. Pool are still pursuing a couple of targets and boss Ferguson says he has been told funds are available.
“I’d like to add more,” he said. “Matt Williams (club secretary) and the chairman have given me the go-ahead but it’s difficult to get players in at this stage.
“I’ve tried for a couple but they’ve not gone through.”
As yet no deal has been done, and although many will be quick to point the finger at Pool’s transfer strategy, Ferguson insists that is not the problem.
“It’s no fault of Blackpool’s that they haven’t happened,” insisted the boss.
“I know people will think it’s due to us but it’s really not.
“People have a perception of how it all works and I’ve seen it from a different side since I took over this job.
“There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes.
“I’m hopeful of getting one in and we will see what happens.”
