Blackpool have been handed a boost with the double signing of Oldham duo Danny Philliskirk and Mark Yeates.
The pair completed medicals at Bloomfield Road today before putting pen to paper on permanent contracts with the Seasiders.
Yeates has been a Latics regular this season, having joined the club in August after two seasons at Bradford City.
The 30-year-old Irishman has been on the books of 11 league clubs, having started his career at Tottenham.
He joins Pool on a free-transfer with his six month contract at Boundary Park due to expire next week.
Yeates, who has signed an 18-month contract, goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s game against Port Vale alongside Philliskirk who put pen-to-paper on a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months at Bloomfield Road last night.
The 24-year-old completed a medical this morning after terms were agreed on a £75,000 deal with Oldham after almost two weeks of negotiations.
Boss Neil McDonald revealed he’d watched Philliskirk, who has fired seven goals so far this season, on a number of occasions and was delighted to get the deal done.
He said: “I’m really pleased to secure his signature.
“I’ve watched him a couple of times this season and every time I go and watch he seems to score.
“We’re looking forward to him scoring some goals to push us up that league on a regular basis.”
Yeates is no stranger to Blackpool supporters who saw him score two almost identical free-kicks for Colchester at Bloomfield Road back in a 2-2 draw back in 2007.
And McDonald hopes he can add quality to Pool’s line-up.
“Mark gives us a little bit of experience and certainly gives us a little bit of pace as well,” said the Pool boss.
“His delivery from open play, as well as set-plays, is excellent.
“We’re looking forward to working with him.”
