While things may not be progressing too quickly off the field at Bloomfield Road, it’s a different story on it.
As our picture shows, work on the much-criticised pitch is moving on apace.
Pool chairman Karl Oyston admitted the surface wasn’t good enough last season, with former skipper Alex Baptiste calling it “the worst I’ve played on in my whole life”.
Now head groundsman Stan Raby’s hard work throughout the summer looks to have done the trick.
Oyston said: “We’ve worked hard to make sure the problems won’t be repeated. We took advice from experts and it’s looking great.”
Newcastle will be the visitors for the first game on the new pitch on July 28.
