MATT Phillips says Blackpool have a simple target for this season – promotion.
The forward, who played 62 minutes of last night’s game against Swansea, tasted the Premier League during his first season at the club, and is ready for another go at it.
After a loan spell at Sheffield United last season, he returned in superb form which caught the eye of a number of clubs.
Despite being linked with a move away from the club, he’s fully committed to Blackpool and can’t wait for the coming season.
“The plan is to carry on from where I left off last season,” he said. “All the speculation means nothing to me, I’m still contracted to Blackpool and I’ll give everything I’ve got for this club. We sat down after coming back from our holidays and we feel the top two is a realistic target.
“So promotion is the aim.”
The Scottish international was brought to the club as a right-winger, but Ian Holloway’s front three formation has seen him used across the forward line.
Phillips said: “Ian Holloway gives us freedom to play all over the front three, so where I’m picked makes no difference to me.”
