KARL Oyston has confirmed he wants to increase the capacity of Bloomfield Road next season by building a new stand in the south-east corner.
The Seasiders chairman aims to complete the work during the summer regardless of which division the club are in.
Oyston said: “We’ve had preliminary discussions with planners about the south-east corner. I don’t want to say too much until we put the planning application in but hopefully we’ll be able to fill that corner in.
“It will look the same as the other corners and give us a net 500 gain in capacity. We’ll do it regardless of what happens this season.”
Pool’s highest crowd this term was 16,116 for Manchester City’s visit in October and most attendances have been around the 16,000 mark.
As well as improving the look of the stadium, the new section will take the capacity beyond 16,500.
The scoreboard screen will be moved to the north-east corner, with away supporters also moving to that end of the East Stand.
Undersoil heating remains on the chairman’s agenda, though is likely to depend on Pool staying up, while plans for a new training ground are ongoing.
