KARL Oyston reckons Pool’s January transfers cost the club its Premier League status.
The chairman made this shock admission in his interview with the Blackpool FC website, saying the signings – which included James Beattie and Andy Reid – “added nothing”.
Oyston said: “I think our work last January was, in hindsight, the cause of our relegation.
“Given our time again, we probably wouldn’t have brought in five of the six players we brought in (Jason Puncheon being the one true success). They added nothing and, in fact, they probably destabilised us and made us take a backward step.
“I think you have to be very cautious with change of any sort, particularly in football. I know I certainly am.”
