BLACKPOOL’s players have been given the week off to recharge their batteries.
With no game this weekend due to internationals, Ian Holloway has sent his players home until Monday.
The Pool boss believes that his players are in need of a rest, and that a spell away from the training ground will refocus their minds ahead of the derby at Burnley on Saturday week.
Holloway said: “I just feel everyone needs a bit of a break. This was always the plan, regardless of Saturday’s defeat.
“It’s important the foreign lads get to go home and see their family, and the local players put their feet up for a few days.
“Hopefully they’ll come back with a freshness about them and ready to work.”
It’s a big week for the manager, though. Having lived in the club’s new hotel in the South Stand since the season began, Holloway has moved into a more permanent home in Lytham.
He said: “It was difficult living in the hotel, as lovely as it is. It was impossible for me to get away from it all. I’ve found a lovely place in Lytham. What more commitment do you want from me than that?”
