Former Wolves keeper Matt Murray is to link up with the Seasiders as goalkeeping coach.
The 32-year-old, who played five times for England U21, spent his whole injury-plagued career at Wolves and was forced to retire in 2010, having made almost 100 appearances.
Murray has since been working as a pundit for Sky Sports and manager Paul Ince revealed: “We’ll be bringing Matt in to go to Portugal as goalkeeping coach.
“He was a fantastic keeper. He knows a lot about coaching goalkeepers and what’s needed.
“He’ll come to Portugal and we’ll see what he’s like.
“It’s about having a relationship with the people you work with – you know what these goalkeepers are like, with their keepers’ union.
“So we’ll see how Matt works with the lads we have here.
“I felt that last year the keepers didn’t work hard enough, and Matt will give that to them.”
-- Pool have added two fixtures to their pre-season plans.
They will travel to Northern League club Penrith on Saturday July 6 (kick-off 3pm) before facing Bury at Gigg Lane on Tuesday July 23 (kick-off 7.30pm).
