Former Blackburn Rovers keeper Bobby Mimms has been named Blackpool’s new goalkeeping coach.

Mimms, understudy to Tim Flowers in Rovers’ 1995 Premier League winning side has joined up with Neil McDonald at Bloomfield Road - having working in the same role at West Ham United last season.

The 51-year-old worked with Neil McDonald in the same role at West Ham United last season, and will begin work at Bloomfield Road on Monday.

Now an experienced coach, he has held down roles at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackburn and most recently West Ham, amongst others.

After agreeing terms, Mimms said: “Obviously pre-season is coming up and I think it’s important to be at the club from day one.

“I’ve worked with Neil at Blackburn and West Ham as a coach, and we played together at Preston, so go back a long way.

“We know we work well together, so it was definitely a no-brainer to come to Blackpool and continue that,” he added.

At Bloomfield Road he’ll be working with goalkeepers Colin Doyle, Kyle Letheren and Myles Boney when pre-season gets underway on Monday.
