Matt Phillips hasn’t scored for 15 months in a Blackpool shirt – but it’s not bothering him one bit.
The winger must be the unluckiest man in tangerine at the moment, smashing shots against the woodwork in the last two matches.
The 20-year-old blasted six goals in as many matches during a loan spell at Sheffield United.
But despite starting nearly every game since his return, Phillips still can’t end a Pool drought that stretches back to September 25 last year, when he scored on his Seasiders debut, against Blackburn in the Premier League.
However, the lad himself claims that elusive search for a goal isn’t playing on his mind.
“I’m getting chances at the moment and I’ve just got to keep getting in those positions,” Phillips said.
“I’ve hit the post two games on the row now. It is unfortunate, but I’m sure that as long as I keep getting the chances, then sooner or later one will go in.
“I am thoroughly enjoying my football at the moment. I am playing in a team that is playing the game the right way, passing the ball and creating chances. Who wouldn’t enjoy that?”
