Ludo ready for Everton test

BRING on Everton! That’s the confident rallying cry from Ludovic Sylvestre, who reckons the Seasiders can reach the FA Cup quarter-finals for the first time since the 1950s.

Sylvestre completed the scoring in Tuesday’s 3-0 replay win at Sheffield Wednesday, which was watched by Toffees boss David Moyes.

It sets up a Goodison Park clash on Saturday week and the French midfielder said: “We knew the prize if we won was to play Everton and it is a cup game, so anything can happen.

“We know they are a good team but we will do our homework on them. And if we can play at our best and stick to our strengths, then hopefully we can get a win and go into the sixth round.”

Sylvestre was thrilled with last night’s display and believes the back-to-back wins at Wednesday and Cardiff prove Pool have what it takes to return to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old added: “This Blackpool squad is excellent and I am really pleased to be here. We’ve got exciting young lads like Matty Phillips and experienced players like Barry Ferguson and Kevin Phillips. It is a very good mix.

“You can see by the last two performances how well we are playing and hopefully we can get to the Premier League again.

“It is such a comfortable team to play in because we all know what exactly what we have to do.

“The gaffer gets us to play a certain way and that makes it easy for us.”
