LuaLua loved Pompey, but his heart is with Pool

EXPECT Lomana LuaLua to get a good reception from the visiting fans tomorrow – he’s something of a Pompey legend.

The Seasiders striker, who is hoping to start after his midweek super-strike at Sheffield Wednesday, played for Portsmouth for three years under Harry Redknapp.

He blasted 19 goals in 87 appearances and was a big favourite at Fratton Park before departing for Olympiacos in 2007.

“Portsmouth is a club with a big place in my heart,” said the 31-year-old, whose goal at Hillsborough was his fourth in a Blackpool shirt.

“I joined them after I was at Newcastle, and Harry Redknapp took me there and gave me another chance. To play in the Premier League for that club was amazing. From day one the fans took to me and I really fell in love with the place.

“We were in a bit of a relegation fight, which wasn’t nice, but thank God we didn’t go down. I loved my time there and I never wanted to leave.

“But in football and in life you don’t know what is round the corner, and other things in my life dictated that I left.

“I’ve got nothing but happy memories of the place. But I’m at Blackpool now, the team is doing really well and all I want is three more points to keep us in the top six.”

Seasiders keeper Matt Gilks views tomorrow’s contest as an opportunity to rack up more points.

The Oystons will ruin our once proud club. We won't be promoted this season. Another waste of the parachute payments will follow next season. It won't be long before we slide back down the divisions and into mediocrity. What makes it harder to bear is it looks as though Preston North End have finally turned the corner. Oh well, let's just enjoy ourselves while we still can before they overtake us again....

Let's hope the weather holds for the match. The team are playing well but not.s get complacent. Pompey will be a hard to team to beat. Automatic promotion is still achievable the way we are playing. Up the pool!!!
