LOMANA LuaLua is set to return to Blackpool’s starting line-up against Birmingham after apologising for letting the club down.
The 30-year-old was axed from the squad for last weekend’s draw at Middlesbrough after missing a team meeting.
But Ian Holloway says the frontman has been “perfect” in training this week.
And the man himself says he has learned his lesson and won’t make the same mistake again.
“I just want to apologise to the fans, the manager and the players for the incident and for letting them down,” said LuaLua, who turned in man-of-the-match displays against Millwall and Leeds before his no-show at Saturday’s pre-match meeting.
“It was a misunderstanding. I didn’t hear what time we had to meet.
“I thought it was ten to one (as opposed to 20 to). I made a mistake and we all make mistakes. I was punished for it and it was really hurtful to be left out of the team.
“It is like every child – when they do something wrong the father will punish them. In football a father is the coach, so I have been punished and it is important now to focus on the future. I know that it won’t happen again.”
Asked if his relationship with Holloway was OK, the he replied: “There has never been a problem between myself and the manager. He has been great to me and I am sure the other players will say the same.
“He has been very supportive and he just wants me and all the rest of the lads to play football, enjoy it and be together.
“No one player is bigger than the team. What is important is that the team does well, not how Lua is.
“I know that and there is not a problem at all between me and the manager.”
