Richie Kyle has revealed he was never in the running to become Blackpool boss.
The former youth team coach has moved up the ladder at Blackpool - taking on first team duties under new manager Neil McDonald.
Kyle was the bookmakers’ second favourite to take the post but made it clear he was never interested - saying it’s simply too early in his career to take the plunge.
But the former Everton man hasn’t ruled out a future bid to lead Pool.
He told BBC Radio Lancashire: “It was never a conversation we had.
“I had various conversations about what we might do moving forward and the chairman asked my advice on various football matters.
“But not at any stage did we talk about me becoming manager of this football club.
“Maybe one day in the future, possibly.
“But it’s too early for me in my career to be thinking about managament.
“You never say never in football.
“But right now I just want to be the best coach I can be, now with the first team.
“Hopefully it’ll be onwards and upwards for me and my career but more importantly for Blackpool Football Club.”
