JIMMY Armfield is heading out to buy a new suit – the Blackpool legend has been chosen to present this year’s FA Cup.
Armfield will shake hands with the Liverpool and Chelsea players before the May 5 showpiece at Wembley Stadium.
He will watch the match from the Royal Box, then present the winning captain – either Stevie Gerrard or John Terry – with English football’s most famous trophy.
Armfield told The Gazette: “It is a great honour and it will be a terrific day.
“I presented the FA Vase at the old Wembley, but this cup final is a classic I think – north v south, Liverpool v London – and it should be a fantastic match.
“I normally go to the final anyway and I’ve commentated on at least 20 of them for the BBC.
“It will be nice to watch it as guest of honour and present the trophy, then get in the car and join the traffic back to Blackpool.
“All I have to do now is make sure I buy a new suit specially for the occasion.”
