Blackpool face Bury tonight without manager Paul Ince.
Instead assistant manager Alex Rae will be in charge after Ince jetted out to Portugal for talks with Karl Oyston.
The Blackpool chairman is currently on a week-long holiday and with player recruitment now an urgent matter Ince has flown South to discuss potential signings.
Pool have only 13 fit senior professionals at the club, with 12 days until the start of the new Championship season.
They’ve so far added Gary MacKenzie and Bobby Grant to the squad, with Gary Taylor-Fletcher expected to join ahead of the weekend.
Ince wants as many as eight more before the big kick-off and will return to work at Bloomfield Road on Thursday morning.
The Seasiders will field an almost full-strength side tonight, but will be without star man Tom Ince.
The 21-year-old has a slight hamstring strain and has been given a few days off to recover ahead of this weekend’s friendly against Newcastle.
Manager Ince said: “Tom is having a rest, he’s got a little bit of a tight hamstring.
“It’s easy to forget he’s only had three weeks off, which is less than half of everyone else in the squad.
“He’ll have three or four days off now and hopefully come back firing.”
Meanwhile, Matt Gilks has been named in a 29-man Scotland squad for the forthcoming friendly against England at Wembley Stadium.
