Blackpool’s hottest property Tom Ince has been named in the 23-strong England squad for the European Under-21 Championships in Israel next month.
But he will sit out the tournament opener against Italy at Tel Aviv on June 5.
Ince is banned from the match for his part in the ugly scenes that marred October’s highly-charged, controversial qualifier in Serbia.
Ince was originally given a two-match suspension, which was cut to one match at an appeal hearing.
The Blackpool winger has become an important part of coach Stuart Pearce’s plans, highlighted by a virtuoso performance against Sweden at Walsall in February when he netted twice and could easily have had a hat-trick.
Ince will be available for England’s group matches against Norway in Petah Tikva on June 8 and versus Israel in Jerusalem three days later.
