Lee Clark is desperate for his squad to keep their survival chances alive on a huge day at the bottom of the Championship.
Blackpool face second bottom Wigan at Bloomfield Road this afternoon (3pm) while the two sides above them, Rotherham and Millwall, also face each other.
Defeat for Blackpool and a win for Rotherham could leave the Seasiders 15 points from safety with just 12 games remaining.
“It’s a cliche but today’s game is a six pointer, said boss Clark.
“It’s a big weekend down the bottom of the league.
“It’s a great chance to cut the points deficit on two of our rivals and that has to be our focus.
“We want to get level on points with Wigan and that will then give us a chance.
“Today is a huge game. I don’t think many at the start of the season thought Wigan would be where they are.
“We have lost one out of six at home and we shouldn’t have lost that against Middlesbrough.
“So we will go and give ourselves a chance.”
Blackpool’s form at Bloomfield Road has improved in recent games, and Clark is more than aware of the importance of a run of wins.
He said: We have to start putting a run together now.
“We have to target each game in isolation, we have to do things differently with the emphasis of winning every game.
“The run of fixtures we’ve had has made things difficult in getting results away from home.”
