Ian Holloway is attempting to hijack Alex Baptiste’s move to Bolton.
The defender agreed terms at the Reebok Stadium two weeks ago and is expected to put pen to paper on a three-year deal once his Bloomfield Road contact runs out on July 1.
He turned down an offer from Blackpool and has informed the club he won’t be re-signing for the club he joined from Mansfield in 2007.
While Bolton are saying nothing on the record, it’s believed they consider the deal done and the only delay is being caused by the player still be under contract.
However, it’s understood Holloway is very keen on his former captain and has held discussions with the player’s agent in an attempt to lure him to Selhurst Park.
Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston, secretary Matt Williams, manager Paul Ince and assistant boss Alex Rae were in Portugal yesterday for talks ahead of today’s Football League conference.
It’s believed they used the time to discuss a number of issues, including transfer targets for the coming season.
