IAN Holloway has sent a message to Blackpool’s supporters: “I’m so up for this season.”

The Blackpool boss broke his summer silence to send out a bold message as his squad jetted out to Portugal today for their warm weather training camp.

Holloway’s name has been linked with a number of clubs throughout the off season, so his latest words of encouragement will prove music to the fans’ ears.

He said: “I think the future’s bright, I think the future’s tangerine and I’m totally up for this.

“Last summer I probably wasn’t right mentally – this summer I am.

“I think that will reflect on the lads.

“The players have wanted me to change things, and we really have.

“This place has never felt so good, even when we were having all the success.

“I believe these lads have the best chance now, they will be looked after better than ever before.

“Clubs might have better facilities than us, but we have a club where no one can look after them better.

“I’m excited, I can’t wait.”

Pool’s stars checked in at Liverpool Airport this morning for their seven-day trip away.

Holloway has chosen to only take 18 of his first team squad to allow him to concentrate fully on his key players.

The players will be taking part in three sessions a day to ensure they are in the best possible shape for their trip to Millwall on the opening day.

“We are going over to Portugal to have seven days of hard work, morning, noon and night,” said Holloway.

“We can get the weights in that we want, we can get the football in we want, and we can get the physical stuff in that we want.

“They also will be spending quality time together.

“They’ve had some rain over in Portugal this year I’m told, so the pitches won’t be as hard as they were last year. I’m told the conditions over there are perfect and I can’t wait.”
