IAN Holloway could be at Blackburn Rovers’ training ground today, but only to watch his young stars in action.
The Seasiders squad play two behind-closed-doors friendlies today, one of them at Rovers’ Brockhall training base.
Pool’s Development Squad face Blackburn this morning, while a more senior side travel up the Promenade to face Fleetwood Town this afternoon.
Holloway is keen to get as much gametime under his players’ belts as possible and so has arranged today’s double-bill.
Kirk Broadfoot, Chris Basham, Angel Martinez, Nathan Eccleston and Ludo Sylvestre will take on Micky Mellon’s side at Highbury at 2pm, after James Caton, Jake Caprice, Alex Addai and a number of youth players have travelled to east Lancashire.
One player who won’t be involved Southend midfielder Ryan Hall, who had been training with the Seasiders with a view to a loan move.
However, the clubs failed to agree a fee for the 24-year-old, and he now looks set to join Championship rivals Leeds United.
The Gazette understands Hall will sign a loan deal at Elland Road this week, with a view to a permanent move in January.
Meanwhile, Pool’s star man Tom Ince is expected to make his fourth appearance for England U21s in Serbia later today.
Ince again caught the eye during Friday’s 1-0 win over the Serbs and Stuart Pearce’s men kick-off the second leg of their European Championship play-off in Krusevac at 5pm.
- BLACKPOOL reserve keeper Chris Kettings made his debut for Scotland U21 in their 2-0 win over Canada at the Marbella Football Centre in Spain.
